What is the
difference does niceEmail™ make?
When Tom wants to
send an e-mail to Mary, he composes an e-mail and uploads it to
his sending server. No difference from SMTP.
But, instead of
delivering the e-mail to Mary's receiving server, the sending
server detains the e-mail. The sending server just sends a
notice to Mary's receiving server, which contains information
such as sender, target recipient, subject, date, etc.
Upon receipt of
the notice, Mary's receiving server sends Mary's authentication
information to the sending server. Mary's receiving server also
passes the notice to Mary's incoming e-mailbox.
If Mary wants to
read the e-mail, she can use her authentication information to
directly connect the sending server and request the e-mail. If
and only if the sending server can successfully authenticate
Mary, the e-mail will be released to Mary.
Therefore, no one
can pretend to be Mary to peek at her e-mail. Of course, many
anonymous senders will try to send bad e-mails to Mary, too. But
all the bad e-mails will be detained by sending server and have
nowhere to go.
If Mary is
bothered by SPAM or misreads any malicious e-mail, at least she
knows where the bad e-mails came from. |
